A Unique Vintage of Restaurant

NEWPORT NEWS -- Developer Bobby Freeman has a wine collection that boasts more than 1,000 bottles.
"My parents took me to Paris when I was 15 and I was hooked," the 53-year-old Newport News resident said. "I've been a food and wine lover my whole life."
So it isn't surprising that wine is, as Freeman described it, "the star of the show" at his new restaurant that opens Friday. A floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar that holds 1,200 bottles of red, white and dessert wine is the first thing diners will see when they enter Light Restaurant & Bar. It is located at Port Warwick - which was developed by Freeman's company, Tower Park Corporation - and replaces Cowboy Syd's.
